Canon pimping.
Mar. 10th, 2012 05:18 pmThis post is long overdue!
Perhaps you've been thinking: "Alena seems like such a cool character I wonder what her game (and the series of games it's from) are like?"
I probably told you that Dragon Quest IV (the game Alena is from) was remade from its original old Nintendo Entertainment System version into a port for the Nintendo DS that could probably be found for a reasonable price in a bargain bin at any game shop.
But suppose for whatever reason you couldn't find it. In which case what is the easiest alternative? Playing the original NES version of course!
It can be done in these steps:

Third Memory Won!
Dec. 5th, 2011 11:48 pmI let this backlog grow too big... but it has to be start being cleared up sometime!
( Magic illness! )
( Magic illness! )
So one of the things that reminded me of DQIV and that Alena would be playable was when I stumbled across this video. If you like singing robots then you probably know this song already, but did you know it's about Alena?
Youtube video right here!
Or watch the original video on niconico.
It's pretty easy to follow with the cute cartoon drawing, but here's the lyrics translated anyway.
( These are also cute. )

Dragon Quest FAQ!
Apr. 5th, 2011 12:33 amOkay, I'm far from an expert on all things Dragon Quest related, but I thought I'd write this up as a bit of canon-pimping.

Stats/Appearance
Apr. 1st, 2011 07:25 pmName Wanderer // Her Royal Highness Princess Alena of Santeem.
Age Appears and is about 17 years old.
Team Carnelian
Height/Build Pretty short, let's say 5' 2". (157.5 cm) Small, but lean and mean.
Hair Color/Eye Color Strawberry-blonde/Purple.
Notable Traits Alena's hair curls at the tips into curlicues. Visible in some of her icons and here.
Much stronger (or at least will be someday, once she gets her skills) than her looks and build would suggest.
As of Day 35: She has her hat and cape as seen in her icons and stuff back.
As of Day 86: She also has the rest of her normal outfit (tunic, belt, gloves, tights, boots, earrings) back, but more orange-y to make it clear she's Carnelian. Go ahead and assume this is her default outfit now.
Other Healing/revival magic exists in Alena's canon! So she doesn't have any real scars or injuries.
